Society Fashion Week in NYFW returns to the Historical Roosevelt Hotel, a beautiful roaring 20’s inspired hotel with grand architecture and décor. This season Society has elevated their event with 15 feet-high LED lights and 60-foot long runway. WOW in presentation! Society is known for showcasing incredible emerging and international designers, and for creating endless opportunities and experiences for models of all ages. A two-day event was sold out, with VIP sitting in the balconies and front rows. Filled with fashionistas, special guest, proud parents and who’s who in the fashion industry. We were all excited to see the most anticipated show of the year. This Fashionista spent two-days doing live video blogs on Facebook just to show my viewers what we were all experiencing. Now, to my readers, I have the pleasure of sharing some highlights of this show to help you get a small taste of what Society has to offer and why you should take the opportunity to attend their next event. So many moments to share, for this fashionista it’s hard to pick and choose, but I will focus on four designers and share some other amazing movements too.

Dazzling couture garments emerged on the runway when Zain Abusakran presented her line La Cattleya. Models blossomed like flowers wearing various colors and styles of garments. Several dresses had appliques of flowers, rhinestones and crystals; all visibly added a more exquisite element to Zain’s collection. A strapless turquoise mini had endless tantalizing sleeves was undeniably captivating, #FashionInnovation! Lively Prints of various flowers were also seen. When I asked Zain about the significant of Cattelya and inspirations, she stated: “Cattleyas are the queen of orchids the riches of genus of orchids.” Zain passion for fashion started as a child growing up in a household that was immersed in fashion, and her mother co-designer has been a great motivator, inspiration and supporter. “With the fabulous beauty of colors, flowers, crystal, and rhinestones every piece of Le Cattleya’s garments has its unique touch of fashion” Zain passionately states.

Spring Cheetah …Wow, handsprings, front walkovers, cartwheels and flying ariels…. shockingly in awed this fashionista was during the presentation of this line. Designer Katerina and Ilyana Reichenbach, both sisters, #SisterlyLove, ages nine and twelve have designed and produced this seasons collection. This collection was all about fashion, comfort and color. Katerina and Ilyana dancewear were reaching new heights with their holographic sketch blend fabrics paired with black lycra and colorful Swarovski crystals. The Reichenbach sisters drew their inspirations from fabric stones in every design. “We used colors such as purples, vibrant pinks, and blues to make this collection fun and amazing”, they gleefully exclaimed.

Michael Lombard international designer, “King of Premium Leather,” showcased his intricate detailed leather jackets, #ExquisiteDetails. His classic yet contemporary motto jackets, edgy and hard-core hardware killed on the runway. I asked Michael “why use leather” and he said: “ because everyone is doing fabrics and creating dresses, I wanted to be different. I wanted to use all top-notch leather.” Michael Lombard uses the finest leather, pure 100% percent sheepskin, calf skin and sometimes lamb skin. He uses the highest-grade level of leather that you can acquire in his moto jackets. In general, Michael draws his inspirations from music and his world around him. If his jackets could speak or tell a story, according to Michael it would say, “I used to be classic, but now I’m modern with a hint of sex appeal.”

Wild and delightful, safari couture animals arrived on the runway. Designs from Disla Couture, Cristina Rodriguez was inspired by “The Last Kings of Africa” based on Alfred Weidinger photography and historian who captured images of royalty in Africa. Cristina used different animal print fabrics in combination with elaborate headpieces, all of her garments were a “must have.” “ I wanted to tie Royalty with the jungle and safari theme”, some of the fabrics represented the safari animals,” Cristina said. Her headpieces designed by Rosmalinda Beato added beautifully to the overall concept. The fusion of the elegant intellectual concept with the editorial quality and her craftsmanship has won Cristina my “Fav Fashionista” award. Disla Couture, Cristina Rodriguez has captured the splendor of royalty and safari in such an exquisite way!

So many designers, so little time, but here are some other memorable moments I promised you earlier.

Krissy King, Super Cute & Fashionable

Vino Supraja, Beautiful and Empowering
